Background: 
Effective public speaking is a skill that can be learned and mastered. Great communicators - the leaders who influence our lives and the decisions we make - know that to reach our hearts and minds, they must speak with authenticity and passion. This two-day workshop focuses on the skills necessary for preparing and delivering convincing presentations in an international environment as faced by delegates at the United Nations and other fora.


Objectives


The workshop aims to improve and train the presentation skills of the participants in order to make them convincing and confident speakers.


Additional Information


Organization of workshop
During this two-day workshop, participants will learn principles and skills of developing and delivering effective speeches. The workshop will address elements of effective communication and argumentation; preparing and devising an effective presentation; mastering Q&A sessions; non-verbal communication; overcoming public speaking stress and anxiety; and communicating in an international environment. In the second day of the workshop, participants will be required to make a presentation from a previously prepared speech on a global issue.

Resource Person
The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Minh A. Luong, Director of The Ivy Scholars Program, Assistant Director of International Security Studies, and Faculty Fellow at the Yale School of Management at Yale University, New Haven/ Connecticut.

Participants
The workshop is designed for members of Permanent Missions. As the programme is interactive, the number of participants will be limited to no more than 20 participants. UNITAR reserves the right to make a selection among the candidates, if necessary. Each Permanent Missions is asked to nominate only one candidate.
